Arley Hall and Gardens

The home of the Viscount and Viscountess Ashbrook, overlooking beautiful parkland, the original hall was built by Piers Warburton in 1469. The present hall and chapel were built by Rowland Egerton-Warburton in 1832-45 in the Victorian-Jacobean style.

Bramall Hall

Lyme Park

Created by the grant of land by Richard II in 1398, there are 1400 acres of open moorland and 18th century parkland together with the Medievel and Elizabethan house of the Leghs.

Collections of historic furniture, textiles, carvings and tapestries represent six centuries of the Leghs.

Little Moreton Hall

Quarry Bank Mill and Styal Country Estate - Styal

One of the largest historic working cotton mills.

The 1830 Boulton and Watt Beam Engine, water wheel, apprentice house and the Styal country estate make a fun and informative day out.

West Park Museum - Macclesfield
Prestbury Rd, Macclesfield

Opened in 1898, the museum houses a wide collection ranging from local history, fine paintings of the 19th and early 20th century, decorative art, a plaster cast frieze taken from the famous 'Elgin Marbles'. The museum also provides a home to many temporary exhibitions.

The Silk Museum - Macclesfield

Tracing the development of the silk industry in Macclesfield and following the silk trail. The museum, located in the heart of the town, presents a fascinating tour of this magical fabric. Combine a visit with a trip to the nearby Paradise Mill where the story continues.

Other places of Interest

Tegg's Nose Country Park

The summit at 400m drops dramatically almost 200m below. The park offer tremendous views of Macclesfield Forest and the Peak National park.

Tegg's Trail, a 4km walk around the park, takes a couple of hours and leads you down into the clough.
